The Phra Ubosoth
The present Phra Ubosoth was built in 1860 by
Phraya Kawila. The present Ubosoth is built in the
style of the original built in the 16th
century and is a well preserved example of Lanna
architecture. The Phra Ubosoth enshrines two
important Buddha images. The oldest is the Phra
Putta Padiharn, the second is 500 years younger and
is called Phra Putta Ha
Loi Pee. Phra Putta Padiharn means the Buddha of
miracles.

Phra Bratan
Phra Bratan, the presiding Buddha image, is
one of the largest in Chiang Mai. The image is very
beautifully sculpted in pure Lanna style. The two
smaller images represent the Buddha’s two major
disciples who attained enlightenment, Phra Anon and
Phra Sariboot (Ananda Mahathera and
Sariputta Mahathera.)
